Changing Rooms.........

Some days you just need a change right....

I thought I would get in and rearrange the Dinning lounge area.
Some days I should stay in bed when I have ideas like this as it is safer...

Before
The TV cabinet was against this wall and now
below I have put some reading chairs there.

I moved the cabinet to the centre wall.
Lounge chair where the dinning table was.

Still trying to figure out where the wood heater will, need to find a new home
for my China cabinet. This seems the only wall for it though, so may-be in a different room.
I just don't know.
Before
Dinning table along front windows now.
All looks so boring.....

Yep hate it..
Spent all morning moving every thing and I don't like it and I'm too tired to move it back
sighhhhhhhh.

So went out and rearranged the front veranda...
Now I'm liking how it's coming together.

So I will have to sit in the newly arranged Lounge room and see if it looks any better...
Have a great week end..

A good month.....

What a great week end we had here.
The sun was shinning and the wild wind looks like it is gone for another year.
I have been getting quite a haul from the vege garden every evening for tea.

Peas, carrots, beets, broccoli, zucchini and lettuce.
I love going out to the garden and picking veges for tea don't you.
No more zucchinis now though as we got 2 big frosts through the week and wiped them out. I was lucky though as only the zucchinis and tomatoes got hit every thing else survived.

With the warmer weather I am getting ready for Spring. Only a week to go and Spring will be here.
I got a mat for the dinning room, I have always wanted a mat under the table but never saw the sense it them as I would always be cleaning it.
I discovered these indoor/outdoor mats last year and so got this nice green one, they are recycled and plastic which makes them so easy to clean. I just mop mine when I mop the floor. I have one in my office and the first one I got is still like new it hasn't faded or worn at all.

I love the color it brings to the room and how it grounds the dinning table. It is a month today since I left work......boy has the time flown...All book work is up to date and I'm slowly getting Bruce's under control...........slowly......slowly.....they have been a bit neglected....

What did you get up to on the week end????

Favorite Finds.

Hi All,
I wanted to show you all a few of my favorite finds.

I have madly been doing the second hand shops in Toowoomba and I have came across some lovely things. I got the glass cake stand for only $5. I put my dome over it, and sat my silver bird and a ceramic rose i there as well.

I have seen so many blogs that use the domes for decorating and they look lovely, so I was excited I found this one on my Honey moon at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre in Brisbane. I even saw Sandy from www.paintmewhite.com   There is some great stuff in there to see.

Plates is what I have been hunting for though....

Dinner plates, wine glasses, drinking glasses, bread and butter plates theses are just some of the things I have been buying from the Op shops.

When I walk into Vinnie's and the lady asks me how the plate hunting is going I know that I have been in there WAY to many times....hahah

Their is nothing like having lovely old china plates to eat off..and set the table with. All the colour comes from the plates and light glimmering on the glass makes a elegant table setting.

This set below I got on Friday from a op shop I didn't even know was there.....I know I missed one..
This was only $6 for the lot.
It's not a full set but close enough...

I needed some where to store all this china so I brought down this old cupboard from the dairy, it used to have all my material stored in it...Now though the dairy is always full of back packers and I have no sewing room..I love this old girl though.

And as you can see she is filling up fast with china.

The inside was already painted the teal colour which I'm loving at the moment.

Thanks for spending time reading my blog....

Before and After....

I finally have some photos of my new look family room.
That's right the painting is finished (insert happy dance) the last of the renos is over....
Lets have a look at the journey shall we, come along and have a look with me.

Remember this room before was bedrooms and entry way(below)

Now it is one nice big open living room.

We knocked down a lot of walls and had a support beam put in. Even before we painted it looked so good.

But now it is amazing.
What a change, so bright and airy. I have also moved the table and sitting area around. It is all working much better with the table closer to the kitchen.

Below you can see how this was once a bedroom.

Looking more like a family room with the lounge and a few plates on the wall.

Ta DA
I know, have I mentioned that I am loving the white, and don't the plates look so much better against the white walls.

Even this dinner set that has been here for years looks better.

Have you noticed I am using a turquoise colour in here, I have been collecting bits and pieces in this colour waiting for when I painted.

So what do you think?
I have to admit at first the white was very well WHITE, but once I got my plates on the walls and colour around with the cushion's and throws it made it much more MANDY.

But not every thing is white, I still love my blue kitchen. I have given it a freshen up with new white trims though, I will show you that latter.

Have a great day.

What a mess.......

I wanted to show you the work from the week end. Below is all the new tongue and grove panelling that went up in the dinning room.

Below you can see it was just plain board and I wanted  it to match the rest of the house.I have decided to go only as far as the windows though with a chair rail going around to finish it off.
Yes it sounds confusing but I can see it in my mind ( looks good there hahaha)
Also all the little skirting board came up, this is the last room to get done.

And it was replaced with some nice wide skirting board, the wider board makes it look finished. After 12months the dinning room is finally getting finished....Just the painting to go and you all know that I don't like painting.

 Enter back packers.
Yesterday while I was at work Mark from Denmark(below) sanded the room for me, so when I got home there was a great big b***** mess to clean up. Fine blue paint EVERYWHERE, but did I sit down and cry even though I wanted to? noooooo I just got in and cleaned it all up thinking that it's not that bad as I didn't have to do any sanding.
Today he is busy doing the ceiling, so more fine dust when I get home..
I no I have said it before but having back packers have been the best thing I have ever done as so much is getting done...yes I am even going to get him painting...
I will keep you up to date.

Blessings

About the house.....

Happy Tuesday all....
I wanted to share with you what I have been up to around the house lately. I picked this sign  up from a great shop in Gatton last time I was in there. Such a good saying  I think. As you can see I still haven't got around to painting the rest of the house. I was planning on doing it my self but I just don't have the time so I think I will have to call on Painter handy man Neville to come and do it for me at least it will get done then.

Last post I mentioned that we stopped at Ikea on the way home, I got a few little bits and bobs, my favorite being this new candle chandelier, loving it, it holds 10 candles.

As I don't have a light above the dinning room table I thought this would ground the table.

I have also brought in a stool to use along the window instead of chairs, manly because I don't have enough dinning room chairs. Also with the numbers I have been feeding you can fit more around a table with a long stool.

Looking at the above photos I have decided YES I have to get Neville down to paint. Funny how you stop seeing things that need to get done after a while isn't it.

I have made a start on getting the photos all back up in the hallway as well. I am thinking of painting all the frames black so they all look uniform.....not sure about this.I still have a lot of photos to put up on the other wall yet. I get them all out and then can't get it right so they all go back in the cup board..sighhhh  decision's decisions.

Below is my most favourite spot in the house, I love this table. At first I thought it was to big for the room but it has grown on me and we use it all the time, great for blogging on or when there is to many at the main table we use this one.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I have been up too. Not as much as I would like but I'm hoping that will change soon....
Blessings

The Posts are Gone.......

It started with removing one room, the corner bedroom so that the kitchen at the back was opened up.
Then I thought Why not take the middle bedroom out and make it into one big living area. So I have gone in the last 12 mths to a 6 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom house...
With one large bright living and dinning area.

Still the final touches to finish around the support beams near the ceiling need sheeting and holes under mats to fill in.
But it is starting to look just as I new it would all those months ago...
I hope you aren't sick of the reno posts just yet....
Have a great day

Curtain Remake.............

The curtains all finally all up...
This was a major expense for me but I think it was well worth it..
Even though the posts need to come down the curtains have given this room continuance.

Remember before?
Being that this space used to be four separate rooms(lounge, dinning, front entry and 2 bedrooms) I had a real variety of curtains. In there own rooms they looked great, hmmmmmm altogether, not so good. Very busy....

At first I wasn't sure if i liked them ....Very plain for me as I love colour. After a day though I love them.
I have never bought curtains before I have always made them, so it was quite frightening when I saw the price of curtains.

I liked the look of the rings in the top. To by this material was $29 a metre from spot light and I still had to make them. The ones I got are just from K Mart....Yes K Mart a shop I never really look at but I was getting desperate and remembered I had seen curtains there..Well they were only $25 and they are 1.2 metres wide.....HA cheaper and ready to hang.

As you can see I needed alot of curtains.
12 in all.
hmmmmm still short. They just weren't full enough I thought, so back to K Mart..........None left.
No worries don't panic...Back to spotlight as I had seen the patterned curtains that I liked only they were a lot dearer. I got four of the patterned ones at $50 each and put one in the centre of each window....
Perfect

Above is with all the curtains opened and you can see how many windows are in this room. I had to have block out material as the morning sun streams in through this side.
I did get new rods as the old white ones were horrid. $150 for rods and brackets....
$240 for curtains from K mart
$ 200 for curtains from spotlight
$150 for rods
$590
Just as well I like them. Friends have been telling me this is not expensive for curtains....how much do you pay for your curtains?
I think this room has come together nicely, yes it still needs to be painted and the beams taken down. This might take a while as the builder is very busy with rebuilding from the flood damage. But for now I am very happy with it.

One last photo.
O while getting curtains I saw this mat for only $30 it looks much better than the blue one I had there, and the basket is for storing magazine's in. Baskets hmmmm I could do a whole blog on them loving them at the moment for storage.

Blessings
